Pinot Grigio
|
First produced in 1999, this wine has become one of our signature wines. Besides being available at our tasting room, it can be found on the lists of many fine restaurants throughout California. We intentionally produce it to adhere to the classic Italian style, fresh aromas and flavors, with crisp acidity.

Chardonnay
|
Our Chardonnays have been produced from grapes grown exclusively on vineyards within the Santa Rita Hills viticultural appellation for nearly fifteen years. From my thirty years of experience, I have concluded that this cool climate region is the most ideal for the production of the finest Chardonnay. Full barrel fermentation in 100% French oak barrels, partial malo-lactic conversion, and aging “sur lies” for almost one year are the techniques we employ. These practices yield wines with complexity, richness and the vibrant minerality that we feel characterizes world class Chardonnay.
We produce just two bottlings, the Santa Rita Hills, and the Cuvee Diana. The production of both wines is very limited, and therefore availability is limited to our tasting room or our online store.

| Pinot Noir |
Beginning with our very first harvest in 1982, we have focused on sourcing our Pinot Noir grapes from only the finest vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Of all of the grape varietals, Pinot Noir is the most sensitive to where and how it is grown. In the Santa Maria Valley, we source fruit from the famed Bien Nacido vineyard. In the Santa Rita Hills, we’ve made wine from a variety of vineyards, but have recently narrowed our sources to Rancho Santa Rosa, and Sanford & Benedict vineyards. In addition we farm our estate vineyard, Fe Ciega, which was planted in 1998. The wines produced from this vineyard have consistently received the most acclaim, for which we are grateful for and proud of.

Syrah & Grenache
|
We joined the Rhone Ranger movement in 1998 with the production of Syrah. Since then we have refined our vineyard sources to just two local vineyards, Alisos in the Los Alamos Valley and Clover Creek in the Santa Ynez Valley. Each is bottled separately and each provides us with a different interpretation of the Syrah grape, due to the uniqueness of the two sites. We also produce a very small amount of Grenache from Alisos Vineyard which makes a great wine for summer quaffing..

| Red Wine Blends |
Blues Cuvee
This proprietary red wine blend was first produced in 1993, with an emphasis on the Cabernet Franc grape. Since then it has evolved to include other Bordeaux grape varietals and recently even some Rhone varietals. In addition to its’ quality as a complex, suitable for aging red wine, the wine has gained an audience for the artist series labels commemorating the blues. Every other year we commission a different artist to create artwork for the label. The Blues Cuvee celebrates the musical and visual arts and the liquid art of wine, all in one package.

Evidence
The proprietary blend which we call Evidence is strictly based on the classic Bordeaux grape varietals, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each year we take the very best lots of each varietal and create the best blend possible. The wines are rich, extracted, and can be cellared for a decade or more. I firmly believe that Santa Barbara County is capable of producing world class Bordeaux style wines. To support this belief we offer this wine as Evidence.

Hoo Doo Red
At the other end of the spectrum, we find our Hoo Doo Red, a wine for everyday consumption. The composition varies each year but one will always find it to be an easy drinking wine with a lot of complexity.

Spanish Varietal Wines |
Albarino
We are fortunate to be one of only a handful of wineries in California able to produce wine from this rare Spanish grape varietal. We style the wine to come close to the Albarinos from Rias Baixas and we have been delighted with the results. Very dry and lean with subtle aromatics this is the perfect wine to accompany shellfish and other seafood dishes.

Tempranillo
Our interest in Albarino led of course to Tempranillo. Planted alongside each other at Clover Creek Vineyard in Santa Ynez, the Tempranillo produces a big, rich wine with moderate tannins. It is aged in 100% American oak barrels for twenty months.
