2003 Pinot Noir - Santa Rita Hills, Wine Club Selection
|
We are very pleased and excited to release the first ever wine bottled exclusively for our Wine Club members. It is natural that given our stature as one of the area’s top Pinot Noir producers, that this exclusive bottling be a Pinot Noir, and from the esteemed Santa Rita Hills region no less!
This limited bottling is a blend of wines from two of the top vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills. Fifty per cent of the blend is from one of our most renowned sources, Mt. Carmel Vineyard and the balance comes from Ashley’s Vineyard owned by the Fess Parker Winery.
Both lots were aged in French oak barrels for eleven months. The wines were gently fined to remove any harsh tannins, then blended just prior to bottling in late August.
The wine has profuse aromas of ripe raspberries, with a hint of mint and wet earth. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with a supple texture, smooth tannins and elegant flavors of sweet berries. The finish is long and ends with a hint of toastiness from the oak aging.
This is a very appealing wine which can be enjoyed immediately but will also improve and gain complexity with an additional three to five years of bottle aging. This wine will pair very well with a variety of dishes including veal, lamb sausages, and grilled vegetables.
An important note: This shipment of one bottle of this wine to all of our club members will leave only two cases, just enough for our wine library. We are sorry to say that there will be no wine left for reorders. Fortunately we do have our other Pinot Noirs available for your purchase and enjoyment. Thanks for your understanding.
